The questions that pissed me off

Was that gernades are not useful. You obviously don't know much about hand gernades or the power they have. Throw one into a group of zombies and you will most likely kill or disable a lot of them. Zombies with blown off limbs don't move very well.

Also, shotguns are the perferred weapons for fighting zombies. Rifles may be more accurate, and I may want one if we are talking at a distance, but a shot gun is by far the best choice. The spread of the pattern ensures you will not miss so you can aim quickly and even if you don't hit the head, if you hit them in the body it will knock them backwards and down allowing you time to escape or to shoot them again when they are getting up. You can also get two or more in a single shot with a shot gun. So I tatally disagree with you answers regarding gernades and shotguns...lol

anyways cool quiz.

secv responds:

Unless you are using a slug, shotguns loose their penetration power over a distance I would think as the shot is relatively small and has a low mass per BB.

Great game

It still a little buggy. I think level 13 or 14 its the one right after the white blocks are introduced and the three purple/pink blocks appear and fall. They keep falling and falling faster and faster then they disappear and don't come back even when you reset it. So couldn't get beyond this level.

Other than that though its a great game. Nicely done

Jindo responds:

I've noticed this, they're supposed to rest on the green block, I will fix it :).

Until then, you must quickly drag the green block under the purple ones to catch them (after they've fallen), and then use the green block to carry them to the red ground, then use a purple block to send the Ogotu to the exit :).

Thanks for the review!

As an experment?

Ok, but why not use the alpha submission rather than submit it to the portal?

Suggestions however, are to make yourcrosshairs more visble and it would be good if the screen moved automaticaly tracking your crasshairs rather than using the arrow keys. If you can prgram the arrow keys and do hit test scripts you can also put invisible zones on the edges of the screen so that when the cross hairs moves over it, it will move the screen in that direction. Keep developing. Listen to what others have said, then come back when your ready to show off yournext version. good luck.

Thanks that really was useful

Not too shabby

This is definately going to help those who are looking to do these basics of game development. One suggestion and I think it is an important one when ever you talk about movement for a character...

in the root create a speed var like this

movespeed = 4;

Then use this var in your code....so instead of using

if (Key.isDown(Key.right){
this._x -=5;
}

use this

if (Key.isDown(Key.right){
this._x -= _root.movespeed;
}

in this way you can change the speed of movement by simply changing the var, this also comes in handy if you plan in your game to have the character slow down when moving through water or mud or speed up if they get a power boost or something. Just gives you more control over the speed and movement should you need it.

Just something to consider.

Yea, I will for sure in the future. Thanks for reviewing

Not too bad for first game

I like that you give out a reward system, it makes you want to play it again to try to get to the next award.

Some suggestions would be to add some sort of added abilitites to your popper. Maybe if you pop a red ballon you get an arm extention on the top or bottom. Anything to add to the game play would be cool.

Bakariboss responds:

Wow a real deal game designer! I'm actually in school for game design right now. Thanks for the input. :D

Fun

Simple but great. Would like to see you develop it more. The levels is a good idea. You might add more balls at higher levels to add dificulty...and then you could also add like special powers to your cursor like destroyer....while playing at a higher level a square might appear and if you hit with your cursor it changes to the destroyer cursor....the next ball you hit you can make disappear. Something like that....anyays cool game.

Xiotex responds:

I like your thinking.

decent game

three suggestions

1. Put a fort on each end with X amount of health. The goal is to destroy their fort and defend yours. When you defeat the enemies fort, you get a new battle field.
2. Don't make the battle field so long.
3. it would be cool if you could set spots where your troops would move to. Like when you buy, buy a group of say 5 guys and then that group gets a moveable target that you can move and drop and they will go to it.

bugs and shortcomings:

All I did was buy the gernade guys for 5 TA a pop and just kept buying them till I had so many blue squares started to appear on my screen because they stack ontop of one another, When they stop to fight or hit a barrier they should spread out. But I was getting blue squares because there were so many movie clips stacked onto top of one another. You can also just limit how many of each type can be on the field at any given time.
I started to get bored because all I had to do was keep clicking the gernade guys and went to level 20 and then I let them over run me just to see what would happen as there was nothing else to do.

Great game and I think you got a good concept, just build on it some. nice job

BobBaker92 responds:

Thanks for the comments, I'll take these into consideration for a future game. Thanks.

not too shabby

Definately the game to improve your shooter twitch reflexes. one bug I ran into was the Black box showed up over the top of my shooter and it wouldn't let me adjust the direction any longer.

AsianSpark responds:

YAY

Pretty cool

I agree with what others have said, my only additional comment is to use more contrast with text. A light background with white text makes a person have to strain to read. Bolding the text helps like you did, but not enough...whenever you use text, try to enusre you use a contrasting background to make the letters stand out and easier to read. great job on this and hope you do imporve it.

TwistedEel responds:

On my monitor the contrast is pretty good. But maybe I can increase it to make it better.

has potential

At first I was like...umm and then just started clicking like crazy and it was kind of fun, but then after I reached 3000 I was like is this going to stop? Is there anything more? Couple of suggestions.

1. The special targets that show up the (green dots ones), how about making them a button inside of a movie clip and then have them move around like side to side or something make it more challenging to hit them rather than just showing up in the smae spot everytime.
2. Put a timer for one minute. At the end of one minute a person should have so many points to continue to next level or game over replay. That way you feel like you actually progressing or have some kind of measure of your skill while playing. A new level can be the smae code duplicate with perhaps blue colored bullsyeys dropping and just make less of them fall there by increasing the difficutly for each level to make the score.

Anyways, keep at it, if you keep improving it, eventually you will get it there. Its fun to play, just needs more to it IMO.
